The curriculum for the
Behavioral Plasticity Program

The Behavioral Plasticity Program

This is a comprehensive, specialized, and  post-graduate training program designed for health practitioners interested in incorporating body-centered therapeutical processes in their lifes and clinical practice.

This is not a program to learn ACT as a psychotherapy 8read more under the title “for whom is the program).

The body-centeredness takes the ACT model – the ‘psychological flexibility model’ – to a new and exciting level, to the Behavioral Plasticity sphere. When knowing more about the body and movements, we empower the psychological flexibility with powerful physical healthy behavioral changes. At that level is where neuroscience takes place at the core of the ACT knowledge, and first, there is where the body, physical activity, and movement meet at the core of the skills trained. Neuroplasticity, movement, breathing, relaxation, and other physical activity are conceptualized as anti-inflammatory behaviors, which contribute to the prevention and treatment of chronic conditions (physical or mental).

The program is also comprehensive in regard to its modern pedagogy. It is based on a stepwise educational pathway, which is clearly delineated, systematic, and at the same time, flexible. The educational-model comprises three building-blocks: 1) The Personal Behavioral plasticity block, 2) The Therapeutic Behavioral Plasticity Specialization, and 3) The Trainer in Behavioral Plasticity Certification.

It is specialized since the Behavioral Plasticity framework is developed to treat combined chronic health conditions. A couple of examples can be painful mental experiences, such as trauma or post-traumatic stress combined with chronic pain; or IBS, together with fatigue and depression. These conditions can be challenging to effectively approach at siloed, uncoordinated, and fragmented health care systems. Therefore, in this program, we build interprofessional networks of exchange and mutual support.

The innovations? They are many! Starting with the Behavioral plasticity profiles, an empirically developed and clinically pragmatic way to perform quick behavioral analyses. The profiles also allow us to create groups of patients with shared needs and responsiveness to treatment. The simplicity and clarity of the model adapted to the interprofessional integrated work OR for you that have a private practice to network across the borders to give and get support.

For whom is this program?

The Behavioral Plasticity program is for health care professionals.

It is developed for the interprofessional and integrated teamwork (primary to specialized care, and rehabilitation settings) and for solo-practitioners meeting clients with chronic conditions or combinations of such (physical and mental).

It is for the clinician longing for the systematic and structured integration of the body within the ACT-informed intervention.

If you are a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, or have other rehabilitation background, this program is specially designed for you.

If you are a psychologist, the content will make more sense if you already have been working ACT-based for at least 2 years. The language I use is readapted to be understood by all health professionals, and not only for those trained in psychotherapy 🤓😉.
